This first week in May of Tania Almeida was dedicated to the WBG Regional Mediators Retreat (World Bank's regional mediators' retreat), in Washington.

A group of 24 professionals in the area is responsible for covering the five continents, providing assistance to the Bank's staff and training in communication and negotiation.

The Bank has an internal multi-door conflict resolution system and mediation is one of the doors offered to its staff. Integrating this system for 10 years, the MEDIARE director spent the week with the other mediators, updating herself on corporate functioning and, as happens at every retreat, improving the practice of mediation. Topics such as neuroscience and decision-making, skills for intercultural mediation, different motivations and forms of apology and forgiveness were part of the program.

“Celebrating days of intense coexistence and study with this network of happy and competent mediators was also part of the project”, said Tania.
